A Brief Lesson in Caledonian Antisyzygy
This is Highland Print Studio’s ongoing project on ‘unsung heroes’ and ‘much sung zeros’. The Studio initially started working with primary schools to create a series of artist’s books on unsung heroes of the Highlands, such as Dr Lachlan Grant of the Ballachulish slate quarry and Drovers’ Dogs. To compliment these books, the Studio decided to do a similar project on Scottish ‘heroes’ who should have remained unsung. ‘Cultural icons whose greatest success has been abject failure at their chosen task or a negative impact on the advancement of a nation.
A Brief Lesson is a work in progress. If you would like to nominate a hero or zero we’d be delighted to hear from you. Please e-mail your suggestions to
